Senior Night

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel - It’s hard to believe our last large group gathering of the year has arrived! Join us as we celebrate the amazing senior class with food, games, and more! These seniors have made invaluable contributions to Intervarsity and its mission over the course of their time at BC, and we want to express our gratitude. This final gathering will be a great opportunity to recognize them as they move off into the world beyond BC, so don’t miss it!

Summit 2013

August 25-29 - You have been sent. Sent by whom? Sent to whom? And for what purpose? Come to Summit to consider these questions and more, all in the company of your friends and fellow students from around New England.

Summit is InterVarsity’s kickoff event. The week before classes begin, we gather for five days at Toah Nipi Retreat Center to refocus on God and gear up for a great year of following Jesus and reaching out to our campus. Men and Women in the Church

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel - For a long, long time, men and women have struggled to understand what their unique roles are in Christianity and in the Church. Can men and women both lead in the the Church? Does God have a specific idea for how men and women are to relate in marriage? We probably won’t resolve this issue in one night, but come hear one perspective – from Jon and Kristen Douthit – on the issue and then engage in conversations and pursue your own answers.

Senior Night

Tuesday, April 30, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel - It’s hard to believe, but next week is our last gathering of the year! As such, we like to take that time to shower our seniors with love! Come hang out, have some food as we celebrate these seniors and the ways God has worked in their lives these past 4 (or more…) years. Also, if you are a senior, please let us know if you are planning to be there so we can plan accordingly!

When Tragedy Strikes

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel - Due to the bombings in Copley Square on Marathon Monday, large group this week will be dedicated to reflection and discussion about this senseless violence so close to home. We will have a time of prayer for the victims and families affected by the attacks as we ourselves strive to come to grips with what happened. Please note: in the event that Campus Ministry plans an official BC event for Tuesday evening, we will join the rest of the BC community in attendance at that event, and large group will not meet.

BC Sleep Out for Solidarity
7pm, Friday- 9am Saturday, O’Neill Plaza - IV will be forming a group to attend BC Habitat for Humanity’s overnight event! It’s Habitat’s mission to end homelessness, one person at a time. The Sleepout provides the opportunity to experience the smallest taste of homelessness and bond with peers who are dedicated to the cause of ending homelessness. Large Group – Christ’s Response to Doubt and Questioning

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel - Genuine faith in Jesus and the Way He exemplified does not come without difficult questions. Often times we may consider ourselves “faithless” for questioning in the first place, or we may think we have legitimate concerns with core Christian principles that need consideration. This week, our very own, beloved Jon Douthit will lead us in a reflection on Christ’s response to doubt in the Gospels. What do the Gospels have to tell us about God’s response to confusion, cynicism and anger we may feel at times in our faith journeys? No matter where you are in your faith life, we invite you to join us in what should be an honest, reflective encounter with God’s Word.

Leadership Opportunities for Next Year
Interested in becoming a leader at InterVarsity next year? If yes or you are unsure, join us this Wednesday, April 3rd in Higgins 275 from 6-7pm for a Leadership meeting where you can have all your questions answered and learn more about the application process. This meeting is mandatory for interested leaders unless an alternative meeting time with Jon is scheduled. Hope to see you there!

Spring Retreat

Large Group – Helping a Hurting Friend

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel -  Coming off some good discussions about loving our neighbors, we are looking to delve more deeply into practical strategies we can take to aid those in need, most specifically our friends. What are some good ways to come alongside those who go through hard times? Chris Sherwood, a pastor at Park Street Church, will be leading us in real-world scenarios and discussions about effective, practical ways we can reach out to those in need. This is a great opportunity to learn about and share our experiences, so we hope to see you all there!

Spring Retreat!
Saturday morning to Sunday midday, 3/23-3/24 - This coming weekend, IV will embark on our overnight Spring Retreat to Toah Nipi Retreat Center in New Hampshire! This will be a great time for fellowship and encountering God in the midst of a busy semester. The cost of the retreat is $40, plus gas tips for the drivers. Arrupe
Interested in an international service trip this coming winter break 2013? Our own Lindsay Earley is involved with the Arrupe program and wishes to spread the word about the program for students who will be at BC this coming Fall semester. The Arrupe International Immersion Program empowers participating undergrad students, primarily through undergrad student leaders and mentors, to build international faith-sharing communities. Large Group – Barriers to Living Lives of Justice

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel -  Coming off a great week of service down in New Orleans, we are looking to continue our discussion of practical justice- specifically regarding the barriers we all face in living out just lives. We’ll be diving into Luke 10 as we reflect on the concepts of loving one’s neighbor, the obstacles preventing us from showing true compassion and potential limits on human compassion. We hope to see you all there for more good discussion!

Park Street Outreach
Saturday morning, 3/17 - Join us for a morning of service as we partner with Boston’s Park Street Church to serve food, clothing and supplies to local Bostonians in need. This is a great opportunity to exemplify our faith and apply some of the concepts and thoughts we have covered in the past few weeks! Time TBD.

Large Group – Prayer and Reflection

Tuesday, 7:00pm, Multi-Faith Chapel -  With the semester in full-swing, midterms around every corner and everyone approaching his or her threshold of stress, we will spend our time in community this week praying and reflecting on Jesus and our relationship with Him in the coming weeks. This will be a great opportunity to relax, encounter God in a personal way and perhaps re-focus ourselves on the things in our lives that matter most. We look forward to seeing you all there!
